’08 Deluxe Singlespeed 29er

Owner: Jon Meredith

From: Scotland

Paint: Metallic Pink

Comments:  The aim with this bike is to be able to go for over nighters with nothing else needed and minimal weight on back. The bike is spec’d for use with old man mountain cold springs racks. They are 29er specific I think….hence odd position. The frame also has 3 sets of bottle cages. If I am using the frame bag, it still gives me one bottle under down tube for fuel/light/bottle. The pink colour was a theory of mine: if you came across a tiny totty wee tent in the middle of a mountain midnight walk in the highlands and a pink bike was next to it….what would you do?

It rides lovely – it needs a serious thrash of course but 50mm rake/70 degree head tube makes for a carvelicious bike that seems at its best with light steering input and leaning (which was the aim, once that rack is loaded at the front it will need to be easy to steer) and the position is super comfy…great for those 10+ hr days… Roll on spring!

In terms of gearing: basic riding (like for Shenandoah 100 this coming August) will be the usual 34/18. Light loaded for maybe anything over 12o miles is 34/19 and heavy loaded with both racks +/- frame bag anything between 34/20 and 34/23, depending on the route.
