The team in Boston have just finish an episode of Turnaround which is a CNN TV show. The premise of the show is that CNN link up a small company who is doing well but could use some help with certain things (in this case Independent Fabrication) with a large established company to see if the large company can give the small company some useful advice and help them through their “problems”.
The IF team had a great 3 days of shooting and received some good advice from Jeff Swartz (CEO of Timberland). The great news is that from all the advice they were given, IF are either already doing those things or working towards them. The team felt it was good to receive some reassurance that they were doing everything they needed to do to be successful. The only thing IF as a company need to concentrate on is managing their growth.
If recent sales figures continue growth is inevitable and right now the company is not 100% prepared. Some changes within the company are already happening to make sure that they can meet customer orders. Recently Shanna has moved into welding, Brian into Tacking and Joel (from Dirt Rag) into Finishing. The team has also hired Jason as a shipper and he has made a big difference in the way IF works.
Faced with the prospect of becoming even more successful the Boston crew just want to make sure they are properly prepared for the future! Thanks to the Turnaround experience they’ve received some useful guidance and encouragement that will help make this happen.
