’04 Crown Jewel

Owner: Douglas Brooks

From: New York, USA

Paint: Corsa Red

Comments: I have two Crown Jewels. Both bikes are identical in design but for the tubes and the forks. Both are custom 59cm with 58.5tt, the white bike wears the Ouzo Pro and a tubeset designed for a stiff, responsive ride; the red bike uses the Ouzo Pro Peloton fork and a tubeset designed to be lightweight with a sprightly ride. I cannot for the life of me flex either bb even on the toughest, grinding climbs.

The white bike is set up with a “conventional” Record group while the red bike uses a TA Zephyr crankset (46-36 double) for climbing and spinning. Truth to tell they are too close to really make out much difference except on the hardest sprints or climbs, then each has it’s own personality. IF has accomplished the contemporary classic and I am much impressed and obliged.
