’01 Crown Jewel
Owner: Andrew Kerr
From: Oregon, USA
Paint: Evening Blue with Prizmatique and Platinum accents on down and seat tubes
Comments: Just picked up the frame and am over the moon in love with it. It’s a little banged up so I’m getting it repainted and having a couple dings smoothed out. When all is said and done, it’s gonna be a stunner! Ooooo-eeee am I stoked to get it back on the road. It’s a full Dura Ace 7800 with a gold Chris King BB, gold KMC chain and gold Jagwire Pro cables. It has a Chris King, AlphaQ, Thomson, and Fizik cockpit. The wheels are Dura Ace w/ Conti GP4000S tires. I’m saving up for gold CK hubs to build up a matching set of wheels. The full build is under 20lbs and rides really well.

As you can see, it is no longer evening blue. It is now gloss black with multi-colored metallic pearlescent accent. I’ve taken it out on a couple mid-length break-in rides and am really looking forward to logging some serious miles later this summer. ~ Andrew
I’ll get around to posting updated pics soon. But my IF SCJ is now completely spec’d and well broken in. I let my OCD/bike geek freak flag fly and scrutinized every bit and bolt. I had my LBS shave a little off the steer tube and got rid of a couple spacers, dropping the stem into a more aggressive position. The Dura Ace 12-25 cassette and 54/42 rings were swapped for a 12-27 and 53/39 – a little more range to get up and over the west coast mountains without getting out of the saddle as often. I’ve added a Thomson carbon road bar to complete the full Thomson cockpit. I just recently upgraded to Alligator mini iLink gold cables and cable guides – crazy light, zero compression, so far so good. I got a little crazy w/ lots of KCNC gold odds and ends and a gold K-Edge catcher on a black KCNC fr der clamp. If there are any more parts that I can get in gold, I don’t want to hear about them. Seriously, I’ve reached my bling limit. I swear. I think . . . I finally ditched the Crank Bros Quattros (blech) for Speedplay Zero SL pedals (swoon). I’ve been keeping track of the passing miles with a Cateye Strada double wireless w/ cadence zip tied to the stem. It’s all rolling on gold CK R45 hubs (20f/24r) laced w/ Sapim CX-Rays to HED Belgium C2 rims w/ Hutchinson Fusion 3 tubeless tires – like butter, screaming fast smooth cornering butter. In the last few years this beauty has logged many thousands of miles and remains the go-to stand out in my stable. All time favorite bike hands down. Still a stunner. Now, to get it a Ti or Ti/carbon friend . . .
