Time to give back a bit! We can all help! Posted on August 15th 2010

It is time to make a difference in the lives of others. Many of us could do more to help out others who are in greater need then we are and I want to do my best to help out an organization close to my heart. I am asking you to help me make a difference, even if a small one, and help out the good people doing a great job.

The Legacy House is only one of six agencies in the country that counsel victims of trauma. Established in 2001 they have increased their client base by 362%. They work with adults and children helping them to not only survive the trauma, but to thrive and reclaim their lives.

Children make up 38% of all clients and are victims of molest, sexual abuse, and violent living conditions. Domestic violence clients make up 43% and include women and men. All services are delivered with no charge. 100% of the money raised from this raffle will be used to support the programs at Legacy House. For more information see the Legacy House homepage.

Having had to cope with my own experiences as a victim of physical and sexual abuse as a child, I have a immense compassion and admiration for the folks at Legacy House and the work they do helping victims regain the light in their life after seeing so much dark. I am asking you to purchase a raffle ticket for my road bike I am donating to their raffle during their Outpouring event.

I am donating my Independent Fabrication Crown Jewel road bike (details below) to their raffle in hopes to raise as much money as possible for them. I am hoping to gain further monies for them by opening this raffle up to anyone in the continental US so that I can raise more then would be possible just at the charity event. All monies collected before and during the event will go to the Legacy House and I will personally pay for shipping out of my own pocket. I will announce on the blog a few days later who won the bike and contact them to make sure I have their correct mailing address. Please give me a week to contact you and get the bike packed and shipped. I will send tracking numbers via UPS once the bike has shipped and is insured.

You all are aware of my love for Independent Fabrication and the fine folks who work there, seeing how I have a blog dedicated to them. I agree that we should all hang on to our IF’s for as long as possible and ride them for decades, however I feel that this cause is worth the sacrifice! So please buy a ticket or 10 and help me brighten up the lives of those who need it most.

Details:

I am asking for a $5 fee for each raffle ticket or the great deal of 5 tickets for $20 that can be mailed in the form of cash or check to the Legacy House or credit card over the phone with them directly. Additionally if you wish to include a further donation to the Legacy House, please know all monies go to those who need it most.
