    Gary,

That's a class act move from a great guy! Well done. Cris, you HAVE to post up some pics when this one gets done!

This bike and paint is bad ass. I love this thing, and wish I could buy it. Best wishes, Ryan! Keep the wheels turnin'.

That paint/bike for that matter is so sweet! I think it's so cool, I just had IF repaint my steel SS this exact paint/decal scheme. Very nice bike!

I'd bet the idea is dead, no offense, Mike. You never know though. I rode right beside it last summer in NC on the IF ride. Tyler was rockin' it, and riding it like a champ. I remember that white w/ green IF decal paint job, REAL NICE!

Ya'll make it stop raining so I can get on my damn bike!

The Niner fork is a good recommendation.

A very recent former IF employee swore by the Salsa cromo fork if an IF steel isn't an option for your bike's geometry. I have several rigid IF forks, and am anxious to also try out my new steel Salsa fork on my SS this season.

Haven't tried anything else rigid, just have exp. with IF, Salsa, Kona, and a Pace carbon fork. Good luck.

Bet a Vicious one would be very nice too!

Glad you love your crown jewel. I use this (Meguirs nxt gen.), and like it a lot. High end bikes and paint call for not cheap wax. Get it clean for spring so you can get it real dirty!

I bought from Geoff a couple of years ago. Bought his steel crown jewel. Class act guy, trusted seller, probably rides like a beast as well! Geoff, the snow melt up there yet? I've had two rides this spring so far on the mtb. Dry and all, even with all the snow we had….in Ohio…. Take care, good luck with the sales! Just bought a new house, so it could be a year or 30 before I get another frame. :|

I agree with Dave on contacting IF about the problem. Just out of curiosity, what ti model is it? Chipping easily is normal of IF paint in my past experiences. I have only seen one other IF deluxe with "puckered" paint, and know for a fact the owner just contacted IF for a return authorization number. They are going to check it out for him.

If I had to do it again, on my ti frames, I would have chosen to not get a portion of them painted, and just gone with raw ti. My opinion only, of course. Let us know what happens. I am sure IF will be happy to help you in any way they can.

My first IF is still in my stable. It's a '99 steel deluxe. Black/green and geared. It has King all the way around: headset and wheels, and a mix of xt and xtr parts. My favorite part is my Groovy Luv handlebar, with ESI racer grips. I had Rody build me up a wide pair (28" wide). He's out of Ohio, and since I am in OH, I thought I would try him. This bike is still one of the best riding IF's I have. Ten years old, and still going strong. Here's to another 20 years or so.

Not sure how to send an email, but if the fork is 1 and 1/8th and has a looooong steerer, you have my attention. Let me know.

Same here, mtn. bike first. It was a ’95 Gary Fisher Aquila, fully rigid, 7 speed grip shift, Tioga Psycho tires, canti brakes, etc. I took it back a week later because it was HUGE! The person that sized me must have been on something, because they sold me a 21″ mtn. bike. The trade was a 19″ Specialized rockhopper Comp A1/FS, that I soon upgraded the crap out of. Loved that bike, sold it probably 5 yrs. ago. Stupid me. Of course, now I am an IF addict, so it would be out of place in my stable. Still, it took me many many places.
