Hi, I am planning to ride the D2R2 this year and would like to ride my Crown Jewel SEC. However, I am concerned that riding the bike on gravel roads will damage its carbon fork and partial carbon rear triangle? Is the bike designed to handle such abuse that a 100 mile gravel ride will inflict? I have a feeling it is not but would like to hear from others.

    thanks Houston

No, I think you will be just fine. I think the worst you would suffer would be clear coat chips if you crashed. You might like the vibration dampening of the carbon rear. The ride is a bit rugged, but think of all of the carbon bikes that ride in Paris Roubaix and so forth. The bike will do just fine. Find the largest tire you can…maybe a 28C and go with decent pressure like 85 to 90psi.

    Go for it.
