MemberCris,
That bike is SICK! I love the paint and decals! A throw back!
DarrenDarren
MemberHi Matt,
Are you looking for 29″ or 26″? Is a lefty setup different than a non tapered headtube (1 and 1/8th”)?
DDarren
MemberNeat story on a neat bike…dedicated to Dad. Just my 2 cents, (and I tend to keep most everything, hardly get rid of anything) I would send the frame back for a repaint. Contact IF. If they can’t do it, they will recommend someone that can replicate there work to a T. I sent back my ’05 SS MTB for a repaint 2.5 years ago, and I love it just as much, if not more than I did when I got it new. It will make you feel like you have a new bike, especially if you are buying a new grouppo for it. Yeah, your CJ might not have a tapered head tube or whatever else is ‘new’, but you will feel good in your soul riding what you had made for you and your father for years to come. I expect to have my IF’s until the day I die. I turn 39 on Sunday, so they should hopefully be around for at least that many more years!
Send it back! Update it with fresh paint and maybe the new script font decal?

MemberJust a quick note, (and by the way hey Geoff!) You can buy from confidence from this guy. I bought his steel crown jewel frameset like 6 years ago, and then 2 yrs. later he sent me the matching fork, and I paid shipping. Still have the bike. He is a top notch guy! No worries here. How about a few pics up man? Bet it’s nice! Hit me up at darren dot ling 1 at g mail dot com with some pics of this beast.
Good luck with the sale Geoff!

MemberBringing back a dead post…listen to what I got. I have a rigid 29er IF fork that someone had chromed. Slick looking (pun intended), and no decals yet. It does add a bit of weight (minimal). It also proves a tad bit trying to get the front wheel in the dropouts, as it hasn’t worn down yet, but looks hot. Sorry, not for sale…yet.

MemberMoving focus to road? What’s wrong with you Martin? kidding.
Nice bike. Don’t see too many full painted ti’s. Make him an offer he can’t refuse folks.
Good luck,
Darren

MemberGot it all, thanks.

MemberStupid me can’t even put this in the right forum….sorry. Anywho, have all the items but a rim, but I think I am on to a Surly Marge Lite. Gonna be sweet, can’t wait! Wish it was a full fat, but hey. Let me know if anyone has a fat tire to get rid of on the cheap!
Darren
MemberHey, I’d be down for one shirt! Count me in.
Darren
MemberSorry about my error. phil has a ti cx. He’s also a heck of a nice guy, so buy from with confidence!
Darren
MemberJon,
I have a friend that is selling one in that size, a steel cx frame. His name is Phil. Email him at:

MemberHelmut,
My bet is the bike would be fine, unless it was custom built for a very light rider. It’s a ’98, is it a ‘stock’ frame? My guess is yes. Also, Dave gave some good advice on beefier wheels. Cris, you mentioned drilling the bb. On a non IF bike I have a bolt hole at the bottom for a cable guide, but no bolt or cable holder, as I am running this bike as a SS. Should I find a bolt to fit the hole, or leave it like you have done. Thoughts anyone? I’m running a square taper bb if that matters at all.
Thanks!
